EVERYDAY V5 comments/ideas

Check it out here.

Currently only displaying Jeff & Cheryl because I had to edit the PP code.

This new backend displays the most recent 30 uploaded photos, jumbling the users and organizing by upload time. This will keep the homepage always fresh and when someone doesn’t update for a while they just won’t have any photos up there, no getting “kicked off” needed. You do lose the ability to just know where people are and instantly know whose photo it is, but I think the jumble may be more interesting (at least more surprising, like “Oh shit Paul C took that, huh.”)

Anyway, let me know your thoughts on this change or of any other ideas on how to display everyday. thanks.

Looks Good! Why 30?

i like it! so, will the rollover name be turned off? could be nice without since the images are so small…i like the dense matrix of images…can you make it rollover to a picture of our faces?

i think you need the name, i’d like to try and add date (at least day #) too. no face, rss doesn’t really work like that, it’s quasi inflexible as far as type/amount of content it can carry.

I like it. the name pop-up motion is nice! maybe larger thumbs?

I would like to see larger thumbs. For a moment I wanted to suggest making the last 30 images appear in a random order. This might take care of the “I uploaded 5 images tonight so now it looks like I’m the best ever at everyday” thing. (If you’ll notice on mine and Jeff’s recent image everyday, it looks like we both batch update…when in fact, Jeff is a good everydayer and updates a lot more often).

But then I realized that it would be confusing for those of us, like myself, who check everyday often and like to know which images are new….perhaps…what do you think?

yeah, no random, one it’s hard to do, two you would never know what the most recent is. larger thumbnails would require everyone to change options in their pixelpost admin but i guess they have to change code for this to work as it is. New thumb sizes will also mess with the consistency of your “browse” feature. (i am using the thumbs generated for that) look at my browse, the most recent image is slighty shorter because i changed my thumbsize (to the correct proportion)

I was just thinking the thumbs would be the same size as the current everyday page. It’s not really that big a deal, since it’s a little treat to invite you to take a closer look at the actual page and all. But the current size works well.

yeah, that would still require a change with in the admin of everyone’s site. but i am torn between the smalless as intrigue and bigger as visable.

I just took another look and I vote for intrigue.
